This search lead us to the development of Verde; the newest in our line of earth friendly products. We are grateful to be able to offer Verde as an (eco) logical choice for the environmentally conscious consumer.

Verde is the first of its kind. It is a 100% sustainable, petroleum free oil finish with no heavy metal compounds, no odor, and no offensive fumes. Verde is a 0-VOC finish that can be used in both interior and exterior applications. It is made with new age vegetable ester solvents, tough plant based resins, and the same high quality Brazilian rosewood oil found in all of our fine Penofin products.

PENOFIN-VERDE APPLICATION INFORMATION

PREPARATION Start with clean wood. To clean the wood initially and for general maintenance, use Penofin Pro-Tech Cleaner according to directions to remove dirt, grime, stains or algae growth. If the wood is discolored or gray, apply Penofin Pro-Tech Brightener following the cleaner to bring back the original color of the wood. Allow the wood to dry 24 hours before applying Verde. Color may vary according to wood species and the age of the wood. Test for color by applying a small amount to a hidden area before proceeding.

APPLICATION SHAKE WELL AND STIR THOROUGHLY BEFORE AND DURING APPLICATION. DO NOT THIN OR BLEND WITH OTHER PRODUCTS. DO NOT APPLY WHEN WOOD IS HOT TO THE TOUCH OR AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 45 DEGREES. Optimum temperature for application would be shirt sleeve weather. Apply with brush, rag or sprayer to clean, dry, unfinished seasoned or kiln dried wood of any species. Do not prepare the surface with steel wool as this may cause a tannic or darkening reaction. Apply Verde and wait 15 minutes to an hour. Test occasionally for depth of color. When the surface has reached the depth of color you desire thoroughly wipe the entire surface with a nap-free cloth until the wood feels dry to the touch. Any excess oil left on the surface will congeal and result in a tacky finish. For rough-sawn wood, back brush with a dry paint brush to remove surface product and then wipe dry.

WET SANDING METHOD Use this method for a luminous finish. Wet-sanding with Verde creates a natural paste that fills the pores of the wood. Apply Verde to a small area. With 400-600-grit wet/dry sandpaper, using an orbital sander keep the area wet with Verde until a paste begins to build then wipe dry and repeat the process until the desired patina is achieved. Buff to a polish with a clean soft cloth. The surface will be ready to use after 12 hours drying time.

COVERAGE Coverage will vary from 175-300 square feet per gallon depending on the surface texture, moisture content, and method of application.

CLEAN UP Soap and water. Rags, or waste soaked with any oil based finish have the potential to spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, submerge rags or waste in a sealed water filled container away from buildings and other combustible materials. Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

PENOFIN-VERDE MAINTENANCE INFORMATION

Outdoors: Protect your investment with periodic maintenance. These basic tips will help your Verde application last with no stripping or sanding ever again. Sweep or blow leaves, pollen, standing water or particulate matter off the wood?s surface on a regular basis. This will help prevent staining and assure there is no breeding ground for mold or mildew. Clean the wood as needed with Penofin Pro-Tech Cleaner to keep the color bright and to remove stains. Spot check the wood from time to time for wear patterns, scratches or weather damage, clean the area thoroughly and apply a touch up coat of Verde to the section of the wood that is effected.

Indoors: Sweep, vacuum or dust thoroughly. Use a mild soap solution to clean with a damp mop or rag. Rinse and allow to dry.

LIMITED WARRANTY Penofin finishes are warranted to perform when applied to wood surfaces according to label instructions. If Verde is shown to be defective, Performance Coatings Inc. will replace the product. Warranty is void if wood was previously finished or pretreated. Performance Coatings Inc.'s liability under any warranty whether expressed or implied is limited solely to replacement of product and does not include labor or other damages.
